can I launch my own boat?
Personal boats can be launched downstream of Gow's Bridge - please park at the far west end of Royal City Park beyond the baseball diamonds.
are pets allowed?
Yes, boat savvy animals are always welcome to join!
can I bring my own equpiment?
Paddles, jackets, safety kits are included in price of rental but you are more than welcome to supply your own. You are welcome to bring anything that may help make your trip more comfortable (hats, water, sunscreen, etc).
where can I paddle?
We are able to paddle about 300 meters to Gow's Bridge, at which point you'll need to turn around at the dam. Paddling the opposite direction takes you under Victoria Road bridge and as far up the Eramosa River as the Ontario Reformatory and the Cargill plant. Paddling out and back down the whole river offers about 10km of paddling, roughly 2-3 hours.
are there age restrictions?
People of all ages are welcome to paddle. There are infant sized life jackets available. Someone over the age of 18 is must be present to sign a waiver for the group but they do not have be present to paddle. Photo ID is required as a deposit to rent a boat, we do not take cash deposits.
can I reserve a boat?
We operate on a first come first serve basis. If it is a weekday and you require more than 3 boats for your group, send an inquiry to our socials or drop us a line at speedriverpaddling@gmail.com.
what happens if it rains?
We will announce any weather-related closures on our socials - Instagram & Facebook: @speedriverpaddling
do you offer lessons?
Staff our happy to give a brief explanation of how to paddle on site before you embark. The river has easy to navigate calm water for first time paddlers. Lessons can be arranged - please inquire about this service on our socials or at speedriverpaddling@gmail.com.
how many people fit in a boat?
Kayaks hold one, tandem kayaks hold two, and canoes hold 3 adults or the equivalent (2 adults and 2 kids)
